Expressions Florist is the little ray of sunshine on Hardy Street where you can stop in and literally smell the roses.

Rosie Seek has been owner-operator of Expressions for going on 6 years, supplying stylish fresh flowers, potted plants and quirky giftware to the locals. Together with right hand woman Naomi Dakin, who also teaches Yoga at Wellness Movement on Trafalgar Street, and ‘Flower Dog’ Taco, who is Expressions expert meet and greeter, they have created a fun and welcoming environment in the heart of Nelson. “Floristry is an emotive industry,” says Rosie “People who come in are either over the moon welcoming a new baby, buying a token of romance for that special someone or grieving for a loved one, so it’s important to us that we have a positive and approachable premises for people to display these emotions, and hopefully walk out feeling a little brighter.”

Rosie has always had a passion for flowers, when she was a child she won first place in the floral art section of her school fair (in Redcliffs Christchurch), “Obviously as this stage I didn’t know it was going to be a career, but there was definitely something there.” Then in 2012, after completing floristry training and working for some of the South Island’s most renowned flower stores, she took out ‘New Zealand’s Florist of the Year’ at the Ellerslie Flower show, which saw her competing for 5 days with New Zealand’s best up and coming florists.

Today Rosie continues to delight customers with her unique style, creating bouquets for every occasion in her bright cheerful space at Expressions.
