Please take care if you are at Tahunanui Beach | Nelson City Council

Please take care if you are at Tahunanui Beach.

A few Portuguese Man o’ War or Blue-bottle jellyfish have washed up recently. These jellyfish have also been found on some West Coast beaches.

If you come across any of these, please stay clear.
To treat a sting, flush the area with sea water (or fresh water, if sea water is unavailable) to remove the tentacles. Medical assistance should be sought for more serious symptoms such as numbness, allergic reaction or difficulty breathing.

For further details, go to the Ministry of Health – Manatū Hauora website.
